About Mr. Aguilar

My name is Matt Aguilar; some of you may know me as Mr. Aguilar or Mr. A. The 2011-2012 school year will be my second year with Radiance Academy of Learning. I currently travel to multiple campuses, and you can find my schedule under the "my schedule' tab above. I consider my home campus to be the Daystar campus as it is the campus I am on most often. Before coming to Radiance Academy I worked as a substitute at North East ISD for 4 years. I also used to work at a Rehabilitation Center for adults with traumatic brain injuries. I attended Texas Lutheran University, where I received Bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology, International Studies and Mexican American Studies. When in school I knew I wanted to get into coaching and teaching, so after I graduated I enrolled in an alternative teaching certification program with Region 20. I am certified to work with students from EC-12th grade. I really enjoy what I do, and have a passion for teaching and learning. I love being here at Radiance Academy, and hope that I can bring excitement and a hunger for learning to the classrooms.

I am here to assist students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels in reaching their full potential toward becoming effective, engaged, and enthusiastic learners for life.                            ~ Mr. Aguilar

Outside of school, I really enjoy spending time with my wife, Megan. I do not have any children of my own, but my wife and I are currently enjoying being newlyweds (we got married in March 2011). I was born here in San Antonio, but grew up in Round Rock (just outside of Austin). I moved back to San Antonio after graduating college in 2007. San Antonio is where my family is, and I am very happy to live here and call it my home. I enjoy doing wood work and building things as a hobby. I have even sold some things I have made. I am a sports fan  and enjoy watching most of them, as well as playing them, when I can. I am a very patient and positive person, and love what I do. I am generally a very quiet and laid back person, but please never be afraid to say hi.

I am dedicated to fervent and dynamic teaching as a means of creating and nurturing students' passion for learning.                            ~Mr. Aguilar
